Math
Through the Connected
Math series the students will continue the
study of Mathematics. The books Bits &
Pieces II, Variables and Patterns,
Accentuate the Negative, Compare and Scale,
Filing and Wrapping, and Moving Straight
Ahead will be covered. Daily problems of
the day will continue the basic operations
of fractions, decimal, percents,
probability, and pre-algebra skills. An
over view of skills will start the year so
students can begin to master the basic facts
and operations.
Grading Rubric:
60% Tests and Quizzes
30% Homework, class
work, and participation
10% Notebook

All students must have
a three ring notebook, calculator, and
pencil.
Math Extra Help
Room 201
Tuesdays 3:00 – 3:30pm
Student must bring a note from home
or a parent may email each Tuesday to
attend.
Science
Students will be
increasing their knowledge of Science
through the study of Earth Science and
Physical Science. The students will be
using the second book in the textbook series
Science Plus Technology and Society by Holt,
Rinehart and Winston. This year Science
will cover topics such as Ecology, Diversity
of Living Things, Interactions and
Adaptations, Plants, Animals, Taxonomy,
Astronomy, Sun, Moon, Earth, Human Body
Systems, Metrics, Atoms and Molecules,
Solutions, Geology, Plate Tectonics, and
Rock Cycle. Through classroom activities,
experiments, note taking, worksheets,
quizzes and tests the students will learn
new information and review past information
to build their knowledge of concepts to a
more in-depth level.
