The sixth grade Language Arts program incorporates reading, writing, speaking, vocabulary development, spelling, and media literacy skills.  Instruction and experiences are designed to assist students in expanding both knowledge and ability in all of these areas.  Students will achieve greater understanding of the written and spoken word and develop strategies for communicating more effectively.

Students will have a chance to read many different genres of literature including poetry, fiction, non-fiction and plays.  The writing process, daily writing, active listening and public speaking are also important pieces of the sixth grade language arts curriculum and each component will be analyzed and practiced continually throughout the year.
