The sixth grade science
curriculum is the first book of
a three part series that begins
in sixth grade. The text,
Science Plus-Technology and
Society by Holt, Rinehart,
and Winston, is designed to be
used in the “spiraling” method
of teaching. In this method,
key concepts and vocabulary are
introduced and then built upon
in the following years.
Students will conduct
experiments, write lab reports,
and work individually and in
groups while strengthening their
problem solving skills. All
areas of science (life, earth,
physical) are taught in each of
the texts. We do not use the 6th
grade text until the second
semester. Topics are covered
mainly through class activities
and labs.
Note:
***Students will be taking notes
and should be studying them at
least two or three times a week
at home.***
There will be pop quizzes. Tests
and homework assignments will be
noted in planners ahead of time. |
