Audition and Casting Policy

The music department holds auditions for any planned productions.

Those interested in auditioning for non-musicals should come to the audition dressed comfortably and be prepared for cold readings from the script.

Those interested in musicals should come to the audition dressed comfortably with appropriate footwear for dance.  The audition will also consist of cold readings from the script and a dance routine taught at the audition.  At musical auditions, everyone is required to sing, read, and dance.

Casting Policy

  • All roles, unless otherwise announced, are open.
  • If after open auditions, the director believes that a particular role or roles cannot be satisfactorily cast, additional actors may be contacted for further auditions.
  • Being invited to audition, either directly or indirectly, does not guarantee you a role.
  • Callbacks will be held if necessary.  Only those called back will be telephoned.  Not being called back does not mean that you are not cast in the show.  Likewise, being called back does not mean you definitely will be in the show.
  • In the event an actor or actress cannot attend regular auditions, they may audition at a pre-arranged time at the discretion of the director.
  • Whether the auditions are public or private is up to the director.  Each person will be given an opportunity to sing, read, and/or dance as necessary.
  • Please note that by auditioning, you are obligating yourself to a considerable rehearsal and performance process.  Please be certain that you are willing and able to make this commitment.  If you wish to be considered for ONLY a certain role or roles, please indicate this clearly on your audition form.

The music department endeavors to cast new faces and fresh talen whenever possible, and encourages anyone who is interested to audition.  However, casting decisions are quite subjective based on the needs of the particular production.  Please do not become discouraged if you are not cast – we encourage you to audition again for a future show.
