From The
PrincipalÕs Desk
As
you all know, we recently had an early dismissal due to bad weather. I just
want to take a moment to thank all of the staff members who helped to make
phone calls so that we were able to contact parents directly prior to sending
their children home on the bus. Many staff members used their own cell phones
and gave up planning time to help us contact parents. Things progressed very
smoothly because of such great team work! I also wanted to thank the PTA members
for discussing this very process at their last meeting because some of their
ideas were used to help the process run more smoothly
We
are all ready for a break from winter at this point. LetÕs hope the weather
cooperates! The last official day for students is currently June 19th.
Just
a reminder to all parents, March 14th is a professional development
day for teachers and there will be no school that day.
Congratulations
to Sabrina Kowaleski, a Pinkerton senior from
A
reminder to all, this weekend is the daylight savings time change. Remember to
set your clocks ahead one hour!
Although daylight savings time begins this weekend and the
handbook says students may where shorts after this date to school, we are
asking students to not wear shorts to school until April 1st. It
just makes sense with the extended winter weather and the earlier date for
daylight savings to wait.
THE STOCK MARKET GAME

This
past fall, 17
One
of our teams, consisting of Robert Allard, Jon Pierson, and Dominic Small,
placed fifth out of 93 teams in NH. Their team finished with $103,371.61, in a
market that was performing very poorly at the time.
Sign
ups are still being accepted for the spring session, which will run through May
2nd. For more information, go to www.stockmarketgame.org, or contact
Mrs. Basso or Mrs. Warnke.
If you would like to give feedback to your
childÕs placement next year, please see my letter in this edition of In The News.
From Mr. CampbellÕs Desk:
I hope everyone had a refreshing break and was able to relax and get a little rest. I also hope that those who went on a vacation brought the sun back with you to help melt all this snow. We will be going outside more often for recess and I would like to encourage everyone to check the weather for the ever changing conditions and dress accordingly. We still have quite a few articles of clothing in the LOST AND FOUND box in the cafeterium. Please remind your child to check for missing pieces of clothing
I wanted to remind everyone that middle school progress reports go out this Friday, March 7th. The second term for Elementary will end on March 20 and the reports cards will be sent out Thursday, March 27th, unless we have more snow days. (IÕm really hoping for warm weather, maybe some rain!)

Winter

Winter
is the sight of
white
glistening snow while on the sled I go,
Winter
is the sound of
snow
falling and kids crawling,
Winter
is the feel of
a cold
nosey Ôtil you go inside to be warm and cozy,
Winter
is the smell of
warm
peanut butter cookies baking for the dog while I drink delicious eggnog
Winter
is the taste of
outside ice
cold snow and inside warm cocoa.
Winter
is the sight of
bear
trees, cold knees, and children on skies,
Winter
is the sound of
weather
reports and after a snowball game, sore sports,
Winter
is the feel of
Wet
faces covered in sweat,
Winter
is the smell of
a
fireÕs smoke while I drink some Diet Coke,
Winter
is the taste of
a
marshmallow floating in my hot cocoa.
