Mrs. Barbara Sofield is a NH Certified Guidance Counselor and Social Worker. She began working at Chester Academy in 2002. She works primarily with students in the elementary grades.  As the Elementary Counselor she sees students individually, in small groups and delivers a classroom guidance curriculum to grades 1 – 4. Mrs. Sofield also runs a Peer Mentoring program for grades 7 & 8.

Mrs. Sofield has a B.A. in Social Services from the University of New Hampshire and a M.S. in Counseling from Kansas State University. Prior to coming to Chester Academy, she has worked as a middle school counselor, a high school counselor and a social worker.

Mrs. Sofield loves working with and getting to know the elementary students at Chester Academy and their families. It is wonderful to see that as middle school students, many of them choose to become mentors to younger students.
